Spoiler alert: there will be many films and TV series from the ’60s and ’80s because I absolutely love that era of cinema. Here’s my top 5 recommended movies! 🤎🤎🤎
1) Cantando sotto la pioggia- Singin’ in the Rain – 🎤☔
Cantando sotto la pioggia (Singin’ in the Rain) è un film del 1952 diretto da Stanley Donen e Gene Kelly, interpretato dallo stesso Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor e Debbie Reynolds. Il film è ambientato alla fine degli anni venti, nel periodo di passaggio dal cinema muto al sonoro. A Hollywood, nel 1927, l’attore Don Lockwood, acclamata star del muto con un passato di ballerino, musicista e stuntman, non sopporta la propria partner sullo schermo, la bionda e vanitosa Lina Lamont. Lina crede che Don sia segretamente innamorato di lei: ella infatti è soffocante verso di lui, e non riesce a mettersi in testa che Don non è però affatto innamorato di lei, nonostante lui cerchi in tutti i modi di farle capire che tra loro non c’è mai stato niente. Oltretutto Lina ha un carattere sprezzante, capriccioso, smorfioso e altezzoso verso chiunque e anche la sua voce non è per niente gradevole cosicché Don, per non rovinare l’immagine di entrambi, durante le conferenze e le interviste deve puntualmente stopparla ogni volta che lei vorrebbe parlare.
Come se non bastasse anche i loro fan credono che i due attori siano fidanzati da tempo, ritenendoli addirittura una coppia modello del cinema e ciò rende Lina ancora più antipatica e insopportabile. Il successo dei primi film sonori costringe R.F. Simpson, il produttore della Monumental Pictures, a trasformare Il cavaliere spadaccino, l’ultima pellicola della coppia, in un film parlato, ma l’idea si rivela impraticabile a causa del tono di voce squillante e fastidioso di Lina che fino a quel momento nessuno aveva mai udito, e della sua incapacità di parlare verso il microfono nascosto che fa sentire i dialoghi spezzati. Intanto il musicista Cosmo Brown, migliore amico di Don, ritrova la giovane cantante Kathy Selden, di cui Don si innamora, a uno spettacolo di cabaret e li ricongiunge così che Don possa dichiararle i suoi sentimenti.
Dopo uno screen test fallimentare, Cosmo suggerisce di trasformare il film in un musical che viene reintitolato Il cavaliere della danza, nel quale Lina verrebbe doppiata da Kathy.

It offers a lighthearted depiction of Hollywood in the late 1920s, with the three stars portraying performers caught up in the transition from silent films to “talkies”.
In Hollywood, in 1927, actor Don Lockwood, an acclaimed silent film star with a background as a dancer, musician, and stuntman, can’t stand his on-screen partner, the blonde and vain Lina Lamont. Lina believes Don is secretly in love with her: she is stifling toward him and can’t get it into her head that Don isn’t in love with her at all, despite his every attempt to make her understand that there has never been anything between them. Furthermore, Lina is contemptuous, capricious, simpering, and haughty toward everyone, and her voice is also unpleasant, so Don, to avoid ruining their image, has to regularly cut her off during conferences and interviews whenever she wants to speak.

Lo squalo (Jaws) è un film del 1975 diretto da Steven Spielberg.
Tratto dall’omonimo romanzo di Peter Benchley racconta di un grande squalo bianco che uccide dei bagnanti sull’isola di Amity, spingendo il capo della polizia locale a cercare di ucciderlo con l’aiuto di un biologo marino e di un cacciatore di squali. Il film è interpretato da Roy Scheider nel ruolo del capo della polizia Martin Brody, Richard Dreyfuss in quello dell’oceanografo Matt Hooper, Robert Shaw nei panni del cacciatore di squali Quint, Murray Hamilton in quelli del sindaco dell’isola di Amity e Lorraine Gary nel ruolo della moglie di Brody, Ellen. La sceneggiatura è accreditata sia a Benchley, che scrisse le prime bozze, che all’attore-sceneggiatore Carl Gottlieb che riscrisse la sceneggiatura durante la lavorazione.

Caccia a Ottobre Rosso (The Hunt for Red October) è un film statunitense del 1990 diretto da John Mc Tiernan, tratto dal romanzo “La grande fuga dell’Ottobre Rosso” di Tom Clancy, vagamente ispirato all’ammutinamento dello Storozhevoy del novembre 1975. Prodotto appena dopo la caduta del muro di Berlino, è la prima pellicola a portare sul grande schermo il personaggio di Jack Ryan. Nel novembre del 1984, il comandante sovietico Marko Ramius, chiamato “Vilnius Nastavnik“, in riferimento alla sua origine lituana e alle sue funzioni di addestratore dei comandanti dei sottomarini sovietici, è al comando di un nuovo tipo di unità navale sovietica, il sottomarino nucleare Ottobre Rosso. Esso è dotato di un dispositivo di propulsione magnetoidrodinamica di nuova concezione, chiamato anche Caterpillar, che consente all’unità di muoversi silenziosamente, senza l’ausilio di eliche o altre parti in movimento.

The Hunt for Red October is a 1990 American film directed by John McTiernan, based on the novel The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy, loosely based on the Storozhevoy mutiny of November 1975. Produced shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, it is the first film to bring the Jack Ryan character to the big screen. In November 1984, Soviet commander Marko Ramius, called “Vilnius Nastavnik” (mistranslation of “The Master of Vilnius”) in reference to his Lithuanian origins and his duties as a trainer of Soviet submarine commanders, is in command of a new type of Soviet naval vessel, the Red October nuclear submarine, a modified and slightly enlarged version of the Typhoon-class submarine. It is equipped with a newly developed magnetohydrodynamic propulsion device, also called Caterpillar, which allows the unit to move silently, without the aid of propellers or other moving parts.
The Red October is sent to test the efficiency of the new propulsion system, assisted by the Alpha-class submarine Konovalov, commanded by Ramius’s student, Captain Tupolev. The entire crew of the Red October is convinced they must complete this objective, but in reality, Commander Ramius, along with a group of officers, is secretly en route to the coast of the United States, intending to desert and hand the submarine over to the enemy.

La pellicola è l’adattamento cinematografico dell’omonimo romanzo scritto da Michael Crichton.
1993. Su Isla Nublar, un’isola tropicale di proprietà della InGen situata a 120 miglia di distanza dalla Costa Rica un operaio viene assalito e ucciso da una feroce creatura, custodita in una gabbia che la vittima stava spostando insieme ai colleghi per trasferirla in un recinto più grande. La famiglia dell’uomo fa causa al proprietario della InGen, John Hammond, un bizzarro miliardario con la passione per i dinosauri.
Pochi giorni più tardi, il paleontologo Alan Grant e la paleobotanica Ellie Sattler vengono quindi contattati da Hammond in persona, che li invita, in cambio di un aiuto economico per finanziare i loro scavi nel Montana, a visitare la sua isola per formulare una valutazione scientifica relativa alla realizzazione di un suo progetto, su cui però mantiene inizialmente il più assoluto riserbo. La coppia di scienziati, una volta accettato l’invito, giunge sul posto insieme all’avvocato Donald Gennaro, rappresentante legale degli investitori della InGen, e all’eccentrico Ian Malcolm, matematico texano specializzato nella teoria del caos. Disattiva quindi vari sistemi di sicurezza causando lo spegnimento delle recinzioni elettriche dei dinosauri e scatenando il caos in giro per il parco.

A few days later, paleontologist Alan Grant and paleobotanist Ellie Sattler are contacted by Hammond himself, who invites them, in exchange for financial assistance to finance their excavations in Montana, to visit his island to conduct a scientific assessment of his project, a project he initially maintains. The pair of scientists, having accepted the invitation, arrive on site accompanied by lawyer Donald Gennaro, legal representative of InGen’s investors, and the eccentric Ian Malcolm, a Texan mathematician specializing in chaos theory. Upon arrival, the group is shocked to see a live Brachiosaurus and discover that Hammond has created a theme park on the island featuring various species of cloned dinosaurs. The visit goes smoothly until the park’s circuits are tampered with by Isla Nublar’s computer systems manager, Dennis Nedry, who has been bribed $1.5 million by Lewis Dodgson (head of a genetics company competing with InGen) to steal the embryos of the island’s fifteen dinosaur species. He then deactivates various security systems, causing the dinosaurs’ electric fences to go off and wreaking havoc throughout the park.

Caccia al ladro (To Catch a Thief) è un film del 1955 diretto da Alfred Hitchcock, la cui sceneggiatura, scritta da John Michael Hayes , è basata sull’omonimo romanzo del 1951 di David Dodge.
La pellicola ha come protagonista Cary Grant nel ruolo di un ex ladro di gioielli che deve provare la sua innocenza catturando un impostore che, seguendo il suo vecchio “stile”, compie furti a danno di ricchi turisti – tra cui una vedova e sua figlia, quest’ultima interpretata da Grace Kelly – in vacanza in Costa Azzurra.
